The Nomos Club Sport neomatic Worldtimer won the hearts of many when it was released earlier this year at Watches & Wonders thanks to its charming design and thoughtful color palette. This was the level of creativity we love seeing from Nomos, and frankly, it was long overdue. This week, the collection is receiving a trio of new dial variations dubbed the Night Navigation series, bringing a new level of drama to the unique worldtimer. The series is ‘dedicated to nocturnal city life around the globe’ and the result reveals a new wrinkle to the carefully curated Nomos design DNA.

The Night Navigation series presents three new dials, each sport black galvanized dials with a sunburst finish. The remaining details are rendered in orange (Grid), turquoise (Trace), or yellow-green (Vector) for a vibrant experience meant to evoke the same vibe as traversing a city at night. Unfortunately, the lume remains the same on all variations, and it is limited to hands and relevant hour markers. It’s perfectly practical, though thematically, a more expansive application of color specific lume would have been a welcome detail.

Stepping back, the overall design takes on a very different personality compared to the original eight that were released earlier this year. The contrast between the different areas of the dial is more subtle, emphasizing the vibrant headlining hues. A closer look will reveal that a contrast does still exist, separating the city ring at the perimeter and the 24 hour sub-dial at three o’clock. They are done in a way that doesn’t compete with the night time theme at work more broadly.

The turquoise over black dial, or Trace as it’s called, is the only one to get an accent color thanks to the 24 hour hand being orange along with the city indicator at the top of the dial. To be fair, it’s the same story on the other two, but it’s only really noticeable with the Trace dial, and it adds a welcome bit of complimentary color accent to the situation.

The rest of the watch remains unchanged, which is a very good thing as the case and bracelet are excellent as is. The steel case measures 40mm in diameter, and a hair under 10mm in thickness, and it’s excellent on the wrist. Of course, a brushed case would have also been welcome here but that doesn’t exactly align with the Nomos modus operandi when it comes to these things. Inside sits the automatic DUW 3202 caliber that measures 4.8mm in thickness thanks to the integration of the complication directly to the gear train.

The Club Sport neomatic Worldtimer Night Navigation series is limited, with each of the color variations getting 175 examples produced. Pricing is set at $4,720 and these will not be sold online. You may find a retailer through Nomos to source.
