Summer is in full swing, and so are the bright, colorful watch releases looking to capture the season. As much as I don’t advocate for thinking of watches in seasonal terms, there’s no denying that it produces some pretty great colorways. TAG Heuer has a knack for bringing some great colors together, and their latest Carrera is a great example. Shades of blue paired with white and yellow accents recall a particular era of the famous chronograph, especially in Seafarer-esque guise. It’s a classic take on the formula, and this time, it’s available exclusively to the French market.

The newest member of the Carrera Chronograph collection takes a page out of the Seafarer for Abercrombie & Fitch playbook, a nod to countdown timers for regatta racing. This means that the minute totalizer at three o’clock on the dial is broken into five minute segments, in this case, light blue and silver. The timing hands are all rendered in yellow as a welcome compliment to the dark blue base dial. It’s no surprise that the colors work quite well in the traditionally handsome framework of the Carrera.

This Carrera uses TAG Heuer’s TH20-00 automatic chronograph movement. On the dial side, the running seconds hand is almost hidden at the bottom of the dial, as it doesn’t get its own sub dial. At a glance, this means that it appears as a dual register design, though a date aperture at six o’clock sits within the confines of the running seconds. The symmetrical design is framed by a white chapter ring that sits just above the dial itself.

All of this is fit within the confines of a 42mm steel case that features mostly polished surfaces, though the case walls do get a horizontal brush. The watch is fit to a deep blue perforated calf leather strap to match. This TAG Heuer Carrera will be limited to 500 units, and is priced at 7,350 EUR, and once again, is available exclusively to the French market. Thankfully, the global second hand market will likely see examples of the watch more broadly available. TAG Heuer
