This week I’m happy to welcome the CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier, Guido Terreni. Parmigiani is a brand that has released some of the most interesting watches in recent memory across their modern sport-chic Tonda collection, and most recently with the introduction of a new Toric (you can see my initial reaction to the Toric from Geneva right here). In this discussion, Guido shares insights to what it means to create a formal watch, and how Parmigiani thinks a bit differently about the genre as a whole. It’s difficult to argue with the results, but his thinking certainly adds a level of depth to the overall approach taken.
Prior to joining Parmigiani, Guido resided over the watch division of Bulgari, and oversaw the release of the Octo Finissimo, arguably one of the most successful modern luxury sport watches of the past decade. He looks to bring a similar level of focus to Parmigiani, and has done just that by recreating the modern Tonda, and will pave a new path for high complications within the Toric collection.
