UNIMATIC x Massena LAB Celebrate NASA’s Artemis with New U1-SPG

Unimatic and Massena LAB are once again teaming up to release a new watch inspired by NASA’s Artemis campaign, the U1-SPG. This one leans fully into the theme, featuring a bright orange Cerakote steel case, a NASA signed dial, and a 24 hour complication. Artemis will look to return humans to the moon and ultimately help to create a lunar space station over the coming decade, and with any luck return a sorely needed sense of wonder and exploration to humanity for the first time since the Apollo program. Unimatic and Massena LAB look to play their role in achieving just that with their latest release, a Modello Uno U1-SPG.

The Artemis program hasn’t been without its own setbacks, but its drive to get humans back to the moon with consistency and open the doors to new science and a long term presence to take next steps further. The next step is Artemis II, which will be a crewed lunar flyby that’s set to launch in April of 2026. This is the next step from the first Artemis mission, an uncrewed flight test which was successfully completed in 2022. A core color of the campaign is orange, seen in the main stage booster rocket, and in the suits to be worn by the astronauts themselves, and it’s represented in a big way in this release from Unimatic and Massena LAB.

The watch itself is built on the Modello Uno platform, meaning a 40mm case that measures 41.5mm at the bezel. The case has received a burnt orange Cerakote coating, which is accented by a black bezel and crown. The organ theme continues with an orange nylon strap and keeper, though a black unit is supplied as well. Further, the lume found on the dial is “old radium” flavor, meaning it has a warm tint to it perfectly pairing with the orange without the intent to look old.

A matte black dial sits at the center of this mass of color, which hosts a 24 hour index in the rehaut, and a 24 hour hand tracking against it. This watch uses Seiko’s NH34A automatic caliber, and is a caller style GMT. The classic worm style NASA logo is rendered at the bottom of the dial. The design has a true instrument feel to it, which is fitting, and while it’s not a throwback style watch, there is an old-school charm to it as a whole.

The Unimatic x Massena LAB U1-SPG will be limited to just 99 examples, and is priced from $1,295 available exclusively from Massena LAB. You can learn more about NASA’s Artemis campaign right here. Unimatic // Massena LAB
