Our friends over at Watches of Espionage are taking a dive into the fictional world of Her Majesty’s most valued asset, agent 007, aka James Bond, and the watches to have appeared on the figure throughout his illustrious career. We typically associate just a small handful of watches to the character, such as the 6538 worn by Connery (on an ill-fitting NATO), to the modern Omega’s worn by Craig. But there is far more depth to the watches appearing on screen than you might imagine, and this dispatch, penned by Caleb Daniels, brings us a look at nearly all of them, including a few that will likely surprise you.

Watches of Espionage brings a sharp focus to the watches used in the field, telling their stories to help preserve their history, and celebrate the roles they’ve played in everything from actual combat scenarios, to their impact on culture, such as the case here. The site is run by a former Case Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), offering an unparalleled level of authenticity and respect to the stories being documented.
