Farer continues to refine their existing collections with a new set of World Timer watches, including a new dial color option called Foxe. The new watches carry a slew of more subtle changes as well, from the shape of the hands, to the movement inside. This is a trend we’ve seen in recent years from the UK based brand, seen most recently with their Aqua Compressor, which we wrote about here. The World Timer collection was first launched in 2019, and this represents its first overhaul which will look to set a new template for the coming years.
The new watches begin with a 39mm case that boats a mix of finishes and sections that create a small but muscular presence. The side of the case gets a deep recess with a blasted finish, and invites a closer inspection to the other finer details of the casework, such as the bevel and crease of the lug design. The watch measures 11mm in thickness, and 45mm from lug tip to lug tip, making for an exceptional presence on the wrist.
The dial here offers plenty to take in on its own right, with an internal rotating bezel containing 24 cities around the globe, and a rotating 24 hour ring against which you can read the time of any of those 24 cities. One of the changes made for the new collection is an update to the cities represented, which adds Chicago, Beijing, and Bienne to its ranks. The bezel is adjusted via a crown mounted at 10 o’clock on the case, while the rest of the operations are handled by the crown at 3 o’clock.
New for this year is the Foxe colorway, a deep green that leans toward the cool end of the spectrum. In typical Farer fashion, it seems to be very well considered to achieve a unique look. The hand set has also been redesigned across the entire collection to better suit the other features on the dial, creating a more harmonious overall look and feel in the process.
Inside, Farer is using an updated Sellita SW-330-1 with a new mainspring now providing 50 hours of reserve. The movement is visible through an open caseback, and includes a custom oscillating weight to accent the dial. The new World Timer collection is offered on a variety of strap and bracelet options, with pricing that starts at $1,695. Farer
